Betty’s first job was as a legal secretary in the law firm of Clark, Boggs, Peterson and Becker.
It was there that she became acquainted with abstracts and it was by reading them and typing the attorney’s opinions that she learned to love history.
Several years later she received a call from her former boss saying he remembered how she enjoyed working with the abstracts and would she be interested in coming to work for Central Missouri Abstract and Title Company.
There she advanced from full-time employee to manager and finally to President of the corporation.
She served as President of the Missouri Land Title Association and also served on the Board of Directors for the American Land Title Association.
She received the distinguished Service Award form the Missouri Land Title Association for years of service.
She retired in 1997 after what she says were THIRTY-SEVEN GREAT years.
